Not so long ago I was an avid drone enthusiast and reviewer. I’ve owned quite a few drones and tested many more. In this article I’ll list some of the best current offerings.
Buying Tips
- Stay away from no-name drones with inflated prices. While all of them aren’t all bad you’re money is better spent on a proven brand.
- Speaking of brands some of the most trusted are Syma, Potensic, Holy Stone and DJI. You won’t go wrong with any of these manufacturer’s offerings.
- Read through user reviews to help you see the experiences of real users.
Popular Features
Most popular drones come with FPV or first person video capabilities. This feature uses your smart phone to have a pilot’s view of the drone as it flies.
Almost every decent drone comes with some sort of camera. I suggest a drone with a 4K resolution camera. Of course, your existing action camera will work well with more powerful drones. Just be sure to check payload capacity and mounting options before purchasing a drone.
GPS capability makes take off and landing a breeze. Drone with GPS also allow users to take advantage of the auto return to home and follow me features.
Be careful not to needlessly pay for features you aren’t going to use. For instance, if you aren’t interested in taking photos and video there’s no point in paying for a drone with an expensive high end camera.
